Healing from Grief – Finding Closure After Sudden Loss

Problem

After the sudden, tragic death of her son’s best friend—a 36-year-old helicopter pilot who left behind a wife and three young children—this client was consumed by grief. The loss came without warning, and she felt overwhelmed, unable to process the pain or find a way forward.

Impact

The grief was crushing. She couldn’t stop crying, felt completely powerless, and was haunted by the fact that she never had a chance to say goodbye. The weight of sadness was so heavy that even everyday life felt unmanageable.

Solution

When she came to see Umar, she hadn’t planned on addressing the grief. But during the session, Umar guided her into a deep state where she was able to reconnect with the person she lost and finally say goodbye. Through this process, she not only expressed her love and farewell but also received a sense of peace from the experience—whether real or imagined, it gave her what she desperately needed: closure.

Transformation

The overwhelming grief softened. She still felt sadness, but it was no longer unbearable—it became something she could live with. She described feeling uplifted, comforted by knowing he died doing what he loved, and at peace knowing she had finally said goodbye. What once felt impossible—moving forward—suddenly became manageable.

As she put it: “It was surprising to me how much better I felt. That session gave me closure, and I’m just grateful, because it meant so much that day.”
